Before the object
The sculpture begins long before the first cut.
Colour has to be imagined in reverse. The layers hidden inside the candle will only become visible after the warm shell is opened, drawn outward and folded into ribbons.
There is planning, but there is no pause button. Once the wax reaches its working temperature, the maker has only a few minutes in which it is soft enough to carve and strong enough to hold.
Five movements · One continuous making
A finished candle is a record of decisions made in warm wax.

Build the coloured layers
The candle core is dipped repeatedly so that each colour becomes a thin stratum waiting to be revealed.

Bring the wax to its working moment
Too cool and it resists. Too warm and the form cannot hold. Timing becomes part of the material.

Cut with intention
Each incision decides how much colour appears and how the next ribbon can move.

Lift, turn and compose
The carved strip is curled by hand into petals, loops and architectural folds.

Finish the individual object
Details are balanced, the wick and decoration are checked, and the candle is photographed as the exact piece offered.

Different colours ask for different restraint.

Pale wax reveals form through shadow; every edge has to remain clean enough to read.
02Depth and rhythm
Darker layers create strong graphic lines, making the spacing of every cut visible.
03Energy and balance
Warm colour can feel alive without becoming restless when the structure remains composed.
